Drawing Machine

Overview

A custom-built machine that translates audio into drawn marks on paper. The system processes music in real time — including original compositions recorded for the project — and drives a mechanical drawing head whose movements are governed by the audio signal, producing large-format works that exist at the intersection of computation and physical mark-making.

Each drawing is unique: a direct transcription of sound into line. The machine makes no editorial decisions; what arrives on paper is exactly what the music dictates.
