Overview

A custom dining table designed and fabricated for a private client. The design process moved between Rhino 3D modeling and hand sketching in Illustrator, working through joinery details and proportions in close collaboration with the client's space.

This was a traditional woodworking project, built by hand in solid wood. The form is inspired by Isamu Noguchi's sculptural, biomorphic furniture, but the base is heavier and more columnar, with a classical, almost monumental presence that sets it apart from the lightness of mid-century modern.

The only digital fabrication was in the templates. The shape of the top and the legs was drawn in Rhino and laser-cut into templates, which were then used for template routing: following each template with a hand router to cut the solid wood to the exact profile. The cutting, shaping and joinery were done by hand.
